Assessing the Job Before We Touched a Thing

Before any cleaning starts, we take a proper look at the whole sink, not just the parts that catch the light. With this one, that meant checking the strainer baskets, the drain rims and the tight corners of the basin where grime and limescale build up unnoticed. We checked the tap fittings and the seal around the sink edge, and cleared the surrounding worktop so we had room to work without disturbing anything else in the kitchen.

The Cleaning Process

Ceramic basins like this one need more than a wipe-down. We started by removing the strainer baskets and plugs to clean underneath and around them properly, where grime tends to collect out of sight. Limescale and grease residue around the drain rims were treated with the right products for ceramic, then the whole basin, drainer board and tap fittings were cleaned in stages, working section by section so nothing was missed.

The Care We Take

Ceramic and chrome fittings scratch easily if the wrong product or pad is used, so we're careful about what touches the surface. We avoid anything abrasive on the basin itself, pay close attention to the chrome tap fittings so they keep their shine, and take extra care around the strainer mechanisms so they keep working properly once they're back in place. It's slower than a quick wipe, but it's the difference between a sink that looks clean and one that's actually hygienic.

Protecting What's Around It

A deep clean like this isn't just about the sink itself. We protect the surrounding worktop and cabinetry from any splashing, keep cleaning products away from anything they shouldn't touch, and are careful around nearby windowsills and fittings so nothing else in the kitchen is put at risk while we work.

The Handover

Once the clean is complete, we do a full walk-through with the client: strainers and plugs back in place, the basin and drainer fully dried, and a final check that every corner has actually been cleaned, not just the parts that are easy to see.
